| Ben Cousins Speaks Post drug Boxing? |
|
Ben Cousins announced today he will be participating in a boxing event aptly named "KO to Drugs" which will be hosted by super-middleweight world champion Anthony Mundine at the Sydney Entertainment Centre on February 27. It is the first time Cousins has faced the media since a turmoil packed 2007 saw his AFL career with the West Coast Eagles fall to pieces and his credibility greatly tarnished. Cousins has announced he is keen to play for a Western Australian Football League team and plans to apply for reinstatement into the AFL 2008 Draft. "I'm in a good place, in terms of rehab; it's an ongoing process. It gets to a point where you are completely over it," Cousins said about his recovery from drug abuse which he himself could not justify. All of these aspirations may be made all the more likely to happen due to his involvement in an Anti-drug campaign such as this, especially after his close ties to former West Coast Eagle, now deceased, Chris Mainwaring who is suspected to have died of a Drug over dose late last year hurt his credibility.
